Take a break at Kolonaki Square, walk through Anagnostopoulou, Skoufa, Tsakalof and Charitos streets to get a glimpse of modern eveningwear, until you reach Voukourestiou street where some of the largest international boutiques can be found. This pedestrian passage leads you to Attica, Athens’ large and luxurious department store (clothing, cosmetics & homewares).
At the historic centre of Athens, there is an immense collection of Greek souvenirs, arts & crafts, from shoes and handbags to replicas of archeological monuments. Visit the famous bazaar in Monastiraki, at Avissinias street on Sundays and bargain on Greek antiques. Try local produce and flavors right from the barrels on Evripidou street. At the base of the Acropolis, you can take a walk at Thiseio and Psiri areas where you will encounter lots of modern art galleries in their small streets, as well as a multitude of trendy bars and restaurants. If you are looking to purchase good quality European shoes and clothes, Ermou street (from Monastiraki all the way up to Syntagma) is the place for you!
Nightlife
Athen’s nightlife is truly unique, so much in terms of the variety it offers, its intensity and of course its duration, as most bars and clubs are open every day of the week until the early hours, and host different events. You shall find all types of spaces and music. Should you wish to experience the traditional nightlife of Athens, you should definitely visit Plaka, but you for a more hip experience, the most popular bars and clubs are in Gazi, Psiri, Metaxourgeio, Monastiraki, Thiseio, Kolonaki, Mets and Pagkrati.
During the summer months, the heart of entertainment leaves the city centre and moves south, in the beachfront of Poseidonos Avenue. Starting from the port of Peiraias, to Faliro, Kalamaki, Glyfada, Voula, Voulagmeni and all the way to Varkiza, you shall find endless summer clubs and bars, most of them overlooking the sea for the perfect summer night experience.
